Product Details

The MP6550 from Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) is an amazing H-bridge motor driver IC. It's perfect for bidirectional control of a single brushed DC motor with a voltage range from 1.8 V to 22 V. This board can continuously supply up to about 1.7 A. It features configurable current sensing and current limiting for better control. As this is a carrier board for the MP6550, it's advisable to read the MP6550 datasheet (714k pdf) carefully. The board comes fully populated with all SMD components, including the MP6550. Key features include: it can drive one DC motor; motor supply voltage ranges from 1.8 V to 22 V; logic supply voltage is from 1.8 V to 5 V; output current can reach up to 1.7 A continuously, and low motor and logic supply voltages will reduce the maximum continuous output current; by default, the current control limits the peak current to 2.5 A (this limit can be adjusted); it has under-voltage lockout and protection against over-current and over-temperature; the carrier board provides reverse-voltage protection up to 20 V; it has a compact size of 0.5″×0.6″. For full details, click here.

Using this MP6550 single brushed DC motor driver carrier is easy. First, make sure to connect the motor to the appropriate terminals on the board. You can use it to control a single brushed DC motor in both directions with a voltage between 1.8 V and 22 V. When powering the board, keep in mind the logic supply voltage should be between 1.8 V and 5 V. The output current can reach up to 1.7 A continuously, but if you're using low motor and logic supply voltages, the maximum continuous output current will be reduced. The board has built - in protection features. The current control limits the peak current to 2.5 A by default, but you can adjust this limit according to your needs. It also has under - voltage lockout and protection against over - current and over - temperature, and the carrier board provides reverse - voltage protection up to 20 V. When handling the board, be careful as it's a small, compact piece (0.5″×0.6″). Make sure to read the MP6550 datasheet before use. For maintenance, keep it in a clean and dry place. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you notice any issues, check the connections and refer to the datasheet for troubleshooting.
