Product Details

Melexis' MLX90614ESF - BAA is an excellent infrared thermometer for non - contact temperature sensing. With an internal 17 - bit ADC and a powerful DSP, it offers high accuracy and resolution. This thermometer has a wide range of applications, like body temperature measurement and movement detection. It provides two output methods: PWM and SMBus (TWI, I2C). The 10 - bit PWM output gives a 0.14°C resolution, while the TWI interface has a 0.02°C resolution. Factory - calibrated in wide temperature ranges (-40 to 85°C for ambient and -70 to 382.2°C for object temperature), it measures the average temperature of objects in the sensor's field of view and has a standard accuracy of 0.5°C around room temperatures. It comes in an industry - standard TO - 39 package, and we offer the 3V version. Key features include small size, low cost, easy integration, SMBus - compatible digital interface, customizable PWM output, high accuracy, 0.02°C measurement resolution, single and dual - zone versions, simple adaptation for 8 to 16V applications, power - saving mode, different package options, and automotive - grade quality. Available documents are Hookup Guide, Datasheet, MLX90614 Product Information, bildr blog - MLX90614, and GitHub (Library).

Using the MLX90614 infrared thermometer is quite straightforward. First, power it on. If you're using the PWM output, you can get continuous readings easily. For more precise measurements, the SMBus interface is a great option. When measuring, make sure the sensor has a clear view of the object you want to measure. Keep in mind that it measures the average temperature of all objects in its field of view. As for temperature ranges, the thermometer is factory - calibrated for wide ranges, but it has a high accuracy of 0.5°C from 0 to 50°C for both ambient and object temperatures. Be careful not to expose it to extreme temperatures outside its specified range. To maintain the thermometer, keep it clean and dry. Avoid dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts. Also, if you're using it in automotive applications, its automotive - grade quality should give you peace of mind. Refer to the provided documents like the Hookup Guide and Datasheet for more detailed information.
