Product Details

Oh yes! We have NeoPixels in the 5mm through-hole variety. If you're a fan of NeoPixel strips, you'll love these 5mm diffused through-hole NeoPixels. They bring all the goodness of single-pin control for hundreds of LEDs in a breadboard-friendly format. Each LED resembles a shorter classic through-hole 5mm RGB LED with 4 legs. But inside, there's a little chip that uses high-speed PWM to control 24-bit color. These are the diffused type, different from the Neopixel Clear 5mm LEDs. They look similar to the 8mm ones but are smaller. Power them with 5V and chain them by connecting the Data-Out pin of one to the Data-in of the previous one. If you use an Arduino, our well-written Neopixel library for Arduino can control these LEDs. They also work great with our Trinkets. Note that they're in 'RGB' format, not the 'GRB' format of the 5050-sized LEDs. Check the NeoPixel example code to swap colors automatically. These LEDs are not only good-looking but also fast and responsive, with a milky-diffusing lens for a soft look.

Using these NeoPixel diffused 5mm through - hole LEDs is easy. First, power them with 5V. To connect them, tie the Data - Out pin of one LED to the Data - in of the previous one in the chain. If you're using an Arduino, you can control them with our specially written Neopixel library. They also work well with our Trinkets. Remember, these LEDs are in 'RGB' format, so if you're used to 'GRB' ones, check the NeoPixel example code to swap the colors. As for maintenance, keep them away from excessive heat and moisture. Don't forcefully bend the legs as it may damage the internal connections. If you're not using them for a long time, store them in a dry and cool place.
