Each digit has a decimal point, and there's an extra wire for colon-dots in the middle, perfect for time-based projects. There's also a top right dot for a ° (degree) symbol for temperature feedback. They're ultra bright at 140mcd! You can use less current for the same brightness to save power or increase it to 20mA for maximum brightness. These multiplexed, common-cathode displays can be controlled with a 74HC595 or 8 microcontroller pins. Connect NPN transistors or a TPIC6B595 to the cathodes. They come in bright green, and we also offer red and yellow options.

Using this 7-segment display is easy. First, decide how you want to control it. You can use a 74HC595 or 8 pins from your microcontroller to handle the 8 anodes. Then, connect NPN transistors or a TPIC6B595 to the cathodes. You can adjust the brightness. If you want to save power, use less current. If you want it really bright, set the current to 20mA. When handling the display, be gentle as it's a delicate electronic part. To keep it in good condition, store it in a dry and cool place. Also, make sure to clean it with a soft, dry cloth if it gets dirty.
