Force-Sensing Resistor: 0.6-Diameter Circle

This force-sensing resistor (FSR) from Interlink Electronics is a great passive component. When you apply more force to its 0.58-inch-diameter (1.5 cm) active area, its resistance drops. This lets you build a sensor that can detect force or pressure easily. With a force sensitivity from a few grams to a few kilograms, it's perfect for human touch control applications.

Using this force-sensing resistor is easy. First, connect it to your circuit as per the wiring diagram. Then, start applying force to the active area, and you'll see the change in resistance. When using it, avoid applying excessive force beyond the few kilograms limit, as it may damage the sensor. For maintenance, keep it in a dry and clean place. If it gets dirty, use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe it. Don't use any harsh chemicals on it.
