Hey there! Want to take your projects to the next level? Instead of just one LED, imagine having a whole bunch! And with this 16x8 LED Matrix Backpack, you can double your matrix capacity. It's super easy to get two 8x8 matrices on one convenient board. Usually, controlling 128 LEDs would need 24 pins, but this backpack simplifies things. No need to deal with tons of wiring and big driver chips. It works great with the matrices in our Adafruit shop, making it a breeze to add a bright display. You can use it for scrolling displays or small video ones. In our demo, words flow from one matrix to the other, like a cool sign. Powered by a Trinket (not included), it comes in a compact package. The backpack uses a HT16K33 driver chip. It has a built - in clock for multiplexing and constant - current drivers for ultra - bright, consistent color. You can do 1/16 step display dimming via a simple I2C interface. Each backpack has three address - selection jumpers, so you can connect up to 8 of these 1.2" 16x8 units on a single I2C bus. The kit includes a fully tested and assembled 16x8 1.2" LED Backpack, 2 ultra - bright round 8x8 blue matrices, and a 4 - pin header. You'll need to do a bit of soldering to attach the matrices to the backpack, but it's easy and only takes about 10 minutes. We also have a detailed tutorial and a nice library to get you up and running in under half an hour, displaying images or numbers. If matrix displays seemed too complex before, this is the perfect solution!

Using this product is a piece of cake. First, you'll need to solder the two ultra - bright round 8x8 blue matrices onto the 16x8 1.2" LED Backpack. It's easy and should only take about 10 minutes. Once soldered, you can connect it to your project. The backpack uses a simple I2C interface, so wiring is straightforward. You can connect up to 8 of these units on a single I2C bus using the address - selection jumpers. To start using it, check out our detailed tutorial which shows you how to solder, wire, and control the display. We also have a nice library that can help you get running in under half an hour. You can display images on the matrix or numbers on the 7 - segment. As for maintenance, keep it in a dry and clean place. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture. If you have any issues, refer back to our tutorial or reach out to our support team.
