- 2 9 - centimeter (3.5 - foot) long stainless steel nails
Note: A cute plant friend isn't included. You can use any planter with soil that can accommodate a nail.

Using the Plant Care Kit is easy. First, gather your materials: the kit components and a micro:bit V1, micro:bit V2, or CLUE controller board. Insert the stainless steel nails into the soil of your plant's planter. Connect the alligator clip test leads to the nails and the appropriate parts of the Adafruit Bonsai Buckaroo. Attach the submersible water pump to the PVC tubing and place it in a water source. The kit will then measure the soil moisture and help you decide when to water your plant.
When using the kit, make sure the water source for the pump is clean to avoid clogging. Also, don't let the alligator clips touch each other to prevent short - circuits.
