Product Details

Pimoroni's HyperPixel is a fantastic 4.0-inch display with 800x480 18-bit color pixels. It uses the high-speed DPI interface on the Pi, allowing you to use it as a console, X window port, and display images or videos easily. The best part? It simply plugs right on top! The DPI interface is super fast, similar to HDMI in speed optimization. However, it uses almost every pin on the Pi, so it's better to use USB - interfaced devices rather than those for the GPIO header. The HyperPixel 4.0 is designed to fit nicely on Raspberry Pi Zero, Pi 3, Pi 2, or Model A+ / B+ (any Pi with a 2x20 connector), but not the old Pi 1 with a 2x13 connector. Everything comes fully assembled, no soldering needed! The display attaches to the HyperPixel PCB via a neat flush - mounting FPC cable. Just pop it on your Pi and run the installer. It works with any 40 - pin version of the Pi, like Pi Zero and Pi Zero W. For larger Pi models like B+, 2, or 3, use the included 40 - pin header to adjust the height. Features include a high - speed DPI interface, a 4.0 - inch IPS display with a wide 160° viewing angle, 800x480 pixels (~235 PPI), 18 - bit color (262,144 colors), a 60 FPS frame rate, a 500:1 contrast ratio, a 40 - pin female header for height adjustment, standoffs for secure attachment, compatibility with multiple Raspberry Pi models, and a one - line installer. Note: when installing, don't press on the screen surface. Hold the board by its edges and wiggle it onto the extended header or GPIO header. We also have its capacitive touch version!

Using your Pimoroni HyperPixel 4.0 display is a breeze. First, check if your Raspberry Pi is compatible. It works with Pi Zero, Pi Zero W, Pi 3 B+, 3, 2, B+, and A+. If you're using a larger Pi like B+, 2, or 3, use the included 40 - pin female header to boost it to the right height. For Pi Zero or Pi Zero W, just pop it straight onto the GPI. Once you've attached the display to your Pi, run the one - line installer to set it up. When installing, be careful not to press on the screen surface. Instead, hold the board by its edges and gently wiggle it onto the extended header or GPIO header. In terms of maintenance, keep the display clean by using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Since the DPI interface uses most of the pins on the Pi, it's recommended to use USB - connected devices rather than those that need the GPIO header. This way, you can enjoy all the features of your HyperPixel 4.0 display without any issues.
