Product Details

The MM232R is a compact development module designed for the FT232RQ IC device. Slightly larger than a USB connector, it packs a USB - Serial UART interface into a tiny package. Ideal for new projects or adding a USB interface to existing designs. Based on the FT232RQ, it supports RTS/CTS hardware handshaking and gets power from the USB port. It enables serial data communication at up to 3MBaud at TTL level. Some of the EEPROM configurable CBUS pins of the FT232R are available, allowing it to provide clock signals to external logic. Key features include a single - chip USB to asynchronous serial data transfer interface, with the entire USB protocol handled on - chip, no need for USB - specific firmware programming. It offers fully assisted hardware or X - On/X - Off software handshaking, data transfer rates from 300 baud to 3 Megabaud. FTDI's royalty - free VCP and D2XX drivers eliminate the need for a USB driver. It has an integrated 1024 - bit internal EEPROM for storing USB VID, PID, and serial number. Supports bus - powered, self - powered, and high - power bus - powered USB configurations. It has true 5V/3.3V/2.8V/1.8V CMOS drive output and TTL input, low operating and USB suspend current, and connects to a PC via a standard A to B USB cable.

Using the MM232R is quite simple. First, connect it to your PC using a standard A to B USB cable. Once connected, it will draw power from the USB port. You can start transferring data at various rates, from 300 baud to 3 Megabaud. For new projects, this module is a great start as it has all the necessary features built - in. When adding it to existing designs, make sure to check the power requirements and match them with the supported USB configurations. As for maintenance, keep it in a clean and dry place. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you need to store the module for a long time, it's a good idea to remove it from the USB port. Also, since it has an internal EEPROM for storing important information, be careful not to accidentally overwrite the stored data.
