Product Details

The MIKROE GPS click is a super - handy and compact option for integrating GPS functionality into your device. It comes with the high - performance u - blox LEA - 6S position engine. This click operates on a 3.3V power supply and connects with the target MCU via UART or I2C interfaces. You can also obtain data through a PC application using the USB connection. The GPS click can track up to 16 satellites at once while looking for new ones. The LEA - 6S module has an incredibly fast TTFF of less than one second, which means it can quickly get satellite signals, navigation data, and calculate your position. In continuous mode, it uses 121mW, and in power - save mode, only 36mW. Once it gets a position, satellites are handed over to a power - optimized tracking engine. It offers different power modes like Maximum performance, Eco, and Power Save, letting you balance performance and power consumption. Check the data sheet for detailed info on these power modes. During a cold start, in Maximum Performance Mode, the receiver keeps using the acquisition engine to search for all satellites. In Eco Mode, after calculating a position and tracking enough satellites, the acquisition engine powers off for power savings, but the tracking engine keeps working. The Power Save Mode can cut system power consumption by selectively switching parts of the receiver on and off, though it's not available with LEA - 6R. Features include GPIO, I2C, UART, USB interfaces, mikroBUS™ compatibility, dimensions of 42.9 x 25.4mm, and an input voltage of 3.3V. There are also useful documents like schematics, learn articles, and GitHub resources.

Using the MIKROE GPS click is easy. First, connect it to your device using the UART or I2C interface as it operates on a 3.3V power supply. You can also use the USB connection to get data through a PC application. When it comes to satellite tracking, it can handle up to 16 satellites at once. The click has different power modes to suit your needs. For maximum performance, choose the Maximum Performance Mode, but if you want to save power, go for the Eco or Power Save Mode. Check the data sheet for details on how to configure these modes. During a cold start, in some modes, the receiver will work hard to find satellites. Once it gets a position, it will start using the power - optimized tracking engine. Note that the Power Save Mode is not available with the LEA - 6R model. To maintain this product, keep it in a clean and dry environment. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or physical damage. If you have any problems, refer to the schematic, learn articles on GitHub for troubleshooting tips.
