Product Details
Infrared break - beam sensors offer an easy way to detect motion. This IR break beam sensor has a detection range of up to 50cm and a rapid, stable response time of less than 2ms. With its compact size of 20*10*9mm, it can be easily installed in tight spaces. It operates in a temperature range from -25°C to 60°C. Powered by a DC voltage of 3.0 - 5V, it can be paired with Arduino for various applications in smart robot competitions such as simple motion detection, speed detection, and timing. The sensor works by an emitter sending an invisible IR light beam, and a receiver on the other side sensitive to this light. When an object that isn't transparent to IR passes between them, the 'beam is broken' and the receiver sends a signal. Key features include a fast and stable response, easy installation in narrow spaces. Applications are simple motion detection, speed detection, and timing. Specifications cover induction distance, working voltage, current, and more.
Using this IR break - beam sensor is straightforward. First, connect the transmitter and receiver according to the wiring details: for the transmitter, the red wire is for 5V DC and the black wire is for GND. For the receiver, the red wire is for 5V DC, the black wire is for GND, and the white wire is the OUT (NPN). Power it up with a DC voltage between 3.0V and 5V. Place the transmitter and receiver across from each other within the 50cm range (20cm at 3.3V). When something passes between them, it'll detect the motion and send a signal. Keep in mind, this sensor is for indoor use and is not waterproof. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures outside the -25°C to 60°C range. To maintain it, keep the light holes clean. If there's dust or debris, gently clean the 3mm light holes with a soft, dry cloth. Also, check the cable connection regularly to ensure a stable signal.
