Product Details

This infrared proximity sensor from Sharp, model GP2Y0A21YK, offers an analog output. The output voltage varies from 3.1V at 10cm to 0.4V at 80cm. It comes with a Japanese Solderless Terminal (JST) Connector. We suggest getting the related pigtail or soldering wires directly to the module back for easy use.

Using this Sharp infrared proximity sensor is quite straightforward. First, connect it using the JST connector or solder wires as you prefer. Then, place it in the area where you need to detect proximity. Remember that the output voltage changes depending on the distance from the object. When it's 10cm away, the output is 3.1V, and at 80cm, it drops to 0.4V. As for maintenance, keep it clean and avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you're soldering wires, make sure the connections are secure to ensure accurate readings.
