Using these IC sockets is easy. First, make sure you have the right type of socket for your chip. You need the 28-pin 0.6-inch wide version for chips with 28 pins (2x14) and 0.6-inch pin spacing. Don't use it for 'skinny' 28-pin chips. Then, solder the socket into a Perma Proto or PCB. This will let you easily replace and swap chips later. You can use it with an Adafruit Perma-Proto Breadboard or any other solderable PCB or protoboard. But don't try to use it with a solderless breadboard because the pins aren't long enough.
