Product Details

The DFRobot heart rate sensor is a compact, thumb-sized device tailored for Arduino microcontrollers. It operates on PPG (PhotoPlethysmoGraphy) technology, a simple and affordable optical method that detects blood volume changes in tissue microvascular beds. This makes it easy to spot the pulsatile part of the cardiac cycle. The sensor has two holes for attaching to a belt and can be wrapped around your finger, wrist, earlobe, or any skin - contact area. To simplify usage, it features a Gravity Interface for plug - and - play functionality. The IO sensor shield is the ideal match when connecting this sensor to your Arduino or other microcontrollers. It can run on 3.3V, making it compatible with Raspberry Pi, Intel Edison, Joule, and Curie. Note: This is not a professional medical device and shouldn't be used for medical diagnosis or treatment. Also, it's designed for use when the user is stationary; moving while using it will yield inaccurate results. Specifications include an input voltage of 3.3 - 6V (5V recommended), an output voltage of 0 - Vin (Analog), 0/ Vin (Digital), an operating current of less than 10mA, dimensions of 28 x 24(mm) or 1.102' x 0.945'(in), and an interface type of PH2.0 - 3P. Documents available are the Product WIKI and Related Documents. The shipping list contains one Heart Rate Monitor Sensor For Arduino, one wrist belt, and one PH2.0 - 3P cable.

Using this heart rate sensor is a breeze. First, decide where you want to place it - it could be on your finger, wrist, or earlobe. Then, use the belt holes to attach it securely. Connect the sensor to your Arduino or other compatible microcontroller using the PH2.0 - 3P cable. The IO sensor shield is the best choice for this connection. When using, make sure you're still as the sensor is designed to work accurately when you're not moving. Remember, this is not a medical device, so don't use it for diagnosing or treating health problems. To keep it in good shape, handle it gently and store it in a dry place when not in use.
