Are you diving into the world of the open-source electronic design tool, gEDA? Adafruit has an exciting treat for you! We offer 'badges' of achievement in electronics, science, and engineering. We firmly believe that everyone should be rewarded for mastering useful skills, and these badges are a great way to show and share your progress. This 'gEDA' badge is perfect for educators, classrooms, workshops, Maker Faires, TechShops, Hackerspaces, and Makerspaces worldwide. It's designed to encourage beginners on their skill-building journey. This beautiful badge is proudly made in the USA. Skillfully crafted, it's built to last a lifetime. The backing is iron-on, but you can also sew it on. Created with permission from gEDA, this badge represents the gEDA project's comprehensive GPL'd suite of Electronic Design Automation tools. These tools cover electrical circuit design, schematic capture, simulation, prototyping, and production. Currently, gEDA offers a mature set of free software applications for electronics design. Adafruit's embroidered badges are made in partnership with AMBRO Manufacturing in NJ, USA. AMBRO, a family-owned business since 1990, shares our love for open-source. They use non-toxic, soy-based, water-soluble, and eco-friendly printing supplies and threads whenever possible. With over 250 solar panels generating 50,000 Kilowatt hours a year, their equipment runs on solar power. AMBRO was recognized by Impressions Magazine for their eco-friendly manufacturing practices. We know you have many choices, and we hope our open-source values and green commitment make your decision easier and more fun.

Using the gEDA skill badge is easy. If you want to attach it using the iron-on backing, first, find a clean and flat area on the fabric where you want to place the badge. Preheat your iron to the appropriate temperature for the fabric. Place a thin cloth over the badge and gently press the iron on it for a few seconds in each area until it sticks firmly. If you prefer to sew it on, use a strong thread and a needle. Start by sewing around the edges of the badge, making sure to secure it tightly. As for maintenance, keep the badge away from sharp objects that could damage it. If it gets dirty, you can gently spot clean it with a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Always let it dry completely before reattaching it or using it again. This way, your badge will look great and last a long time.
