This is a force sensitive resistor (FSR) with a square sensing area measuring 1.75x1.5 inches. The FSR's resistance changes according to the pressure applied to the sensing area. The stronger the force, the lower the resistance. When no pressure is applied, its resistance exceeds 1MΩ. It can detect applied force ranging from 100g to 10kg. Two pins with a 0.1-inch pitch extend from the bottom of the sensor, making it easy to use with a breadboard. There's a peel-and-stick rubber backing on the opposite side of the sensing area for easy mounting. These sensors are easy to set up and great for pressure sensing, though they're not extremely accurate. Use them to detect squeezing, but don't rely on them as a scale.
Using this force sensitive resistor is easy. First, find a suitable place to mount it. Just peel the rubber backing and stick it where you need to sense pressure. Connect the two pins on the bottom of the sensor to your breadboard for quick and simple setup. To use it, apply pressure to the sensing area and watch how the resistance changes. Remember, these sensors are not super accurate, so don't use them to measure exact weights like a scale. They're best for detecting if something is being squeezed. As for maintenance, keep the sensing area clean and avoid applying excessive force that could damage the resistor. If you notice any issues with the pins or the backing, it might be time to replace the sensor.
