These LEDs have a classic 5mm diameter. Red, yellow, and green LEDs have a forward voltage of about 2V at 20mA current, while blue and white ones have a forward voltage of about 3.3V at 20mA current. They have a typical brightness of 250 mcd. If you need help using LEDs, check out our 'Introduction to using LEDs' tutorial for your electronics projects.

Using these 5mm diffused LEDs is a breeze. First, pick the color you need for your project. These LEDs fit easily into a breadboard, so you can start using them right away. Just make sure to connect them correctly according to their forward voltage. Red, yellow, and green LEDs need about 2V at 20mA current, and blue and white ones need about 3.3V at 20mA. This will help them shine brightly. When handling the LEDs, be gentle as they're a bit delicate. Keep them away from extreme heat or cold to make them last longer. If you're new to using LEDs, don't worry! Check out our 'Introduction to using LEDs' tutorial for more detailed help with your electronics projects.
