Cubelets - Distance Cubelet

The Distance Cubelet is a remarkable magnetic block. It uses infrared light to accurately detect the distance from an object, with precision between 10 and 80 cm. This directional sensor focuses on the object in front, outputting values close to 1 at 10 cm and near 0 at 80 cm. Cubelets are magnetic building - blocks that can be easily snapped together to create an infinite variety of robots. These robots can move around on a tabletop, respond to light, sound, and temperature, and exhibit surprisingly lifelike behavior. You don't need to program; just snap the cubelets together and watch the behavior emerge, like a flock of birds or a swarm of bees. Using the Distance Cubelet is easy. First, make sure you've bought the special charger as the Cubelets need it. Snap the Distance Cubelet with other magnetic Cubelets to build your robot. Point the sensor of the Distance Cubelet towards the object you want to detect. The block will then show you how far it is from the object. When it's about 10 cm away, it'll give values near 1, and when it's around 80 cm, it'll show values near 0. For maintenance, keep the Cubelets in a dry place and avoid dropping them.
