Product Details

Overview: The Colorduino V1.4 is an amazing RGB LED dot-matrix driver that works well with Arduino. It combines the M54564 with a single DM163 constant current driver. Using the DM163, it gets three 8 + 6 - bit channels of hardware PWM control for the LEDs, which gives the ATmega328 more CPU power for other tasks. It's easy to cascade via IIC and Power interface. Note: The 1.4 version has no switch compared to the 1.3 version. Key Features: Supports 8 - bit colors with 6 - bit correction for each color in every dot. Has hardware 16MHz PWM support. Can play and shine without any external circuits. Comes with dedicated GPIO and ADC interfaces. Enables hardware UART and IIC communication for easy cascading. Has 24 constant current channels of 100mA each and 8 super source driver channels of 500mA each. Specification: PCB size is 60mm X 60mm X 1.6mm. It uses an Atmega328P microprocessor. The indicator shows PWR State. Power supply is 5V - 7.5V DC (7.5V Max). The cascade power connector is Terminal Blocks. The program interface is UART/ISP. The expansion socket is a 100mil bended pin header pair. Communication protocols are UART/IIC. It's RoHS compliant. Electronic Characteristics: Power Voltage (VIN) ranges from 6.5 to 7.5 VDC. Power Voltage (VDD) is 4.5 - 5.5 VDC. Input Voltage VH is 4.5 - 5.5 V, and VL is - 0.3 - 0.5 V. Current Consumption (except LED matrix) is 20 - 40 mA. Drive current per channel can reach 500 mA, and per dot can reach 58 mA. Circuit response time is 10 ns. RGB LED - Matrix color resolution per dot can be up to 16M. Uart Baud rate ranges from 9600 to 115200 bps.

Using the Colorduino V1.4 is quite straightforward. First, connect it to a power supply within the 5V - 7.5V DC range. Make sure to check the PWR State indicator to confirm it's powered on. For programming, use the UART/ISP interface. You can easily cascade multiple units via the IIC and Power interface. When using it, keep in mind that the 1.4 version doesn't have a switch like the 1.3 version. To maintain it, avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures and humidity. Also, be careful not to exceed the maximum drive current for each channel and dot. If you want to expand its functionality, you can use the dedicated GPIO and ADC interfaces. And always follow the recommended Uart Baud rate for proper communication.
