Product Details

Cherry MX Keyswitches are the best mechanical keyboard switches in the world. They offer a satisfying 'clicky' feel and can withstand tens of millions of key presses. They're a global standard for gaming and programming keyboards. Our SparkFun Cherry MX Switch Breakout makes it super easy to use these switches in breadboard or perfboard projects. Whether you're building a single - key input device or a fully custom 101 - key keyboard, this breakout is a perfect prototyping tool. Not only does it break out the switch contacts to breadboard - compatible headers, but it also gives you access to an optional switch - mounted LED. The pin break - outs are designed for keyboard matrixing, so you can connect multiple boards in a row - column setup, minimizing I/O - pin requirements. Note: If you need a Cherry MX Switch for this breakout, just click here! Get started with the Cherry MX Switch Guide. Features: - Supports 3mm LED - Has a footprint for an LED current - limiting resistor - Has a footprint for a switch - isolating diode - Can be chained in row/column matrices - Designed to match standard key spacing and keyboard row offsets Documents: - Schematic - Eagle Files - Hookup Guide - GitHub

Using the SparkFun Cherry MX Switch Breakout is easy. First, connect the breakout to your breadboard or perfboard. You can then connect the Cherry MX switch to the breakout. If you want to use the LED, make sure to place it in the appropriate spot and add the current - limiting resistor.
