Product Details

The Adafruit 12V Bias Voltage Boost Converter is a great little device using the TI TPS61040, a top - notch mini - booster. It can generate 12V DC from as low as a 3V input. We often use this chip in our OLED boards to power the displays with the necessary 12V bias voltage. There are many other uses too, like driving an LED string backlight or re - programming FLASH or EEPROM memories. Note, it's not suitable for high - power tasks such as driving solenoids, motors, or long analog LED strips. The maximum output current is about 40mA. But when you only need a small amount of current and already have 3.3V or 5V on the board, it's much easier than getting a separate 12V supply. You'll receive a fully assembled breakout board with a TPS61040, required passive components, and a small header. Just supply 2 to 6V DC to the IN and G pins, and you'll get 12V at the 12V output pin. You can disable the output by pulling the En pin low.

Using this Adafruit boost converter is easy. First, connect 2 to 6V DC to the IN and G pins on the board. Once connected, you'll get a 12V output at the 12V output pin. If you want to turn off the output, just pull the En pin low. Remember, this converter isn't meant for high - power jobs like running motors or long LED strips. The most current it can give out is about 40mA. For maintenance, keep it in a dry place and avoid physical damage. There's no need for special cleaning or upkeep as long as it's used within its limits.
