Pimoroni's HyperPixel is an amazing 4.0' display for Raspberry Pi. It has 800x480 18 - bit color pixels and a capacitive touch overlay, which makes it more sensitive and responsive compared to resistive touch displays. Using the high - speed DPI interface on the Pi, you can use this mini - display as a console, X window port, and show images or videos. The best part? It simply plugs right on top, so it's incredibly easy to install! The DPI interface is super fast, with speed optimizations similar to HDMI. However, it uses almost every pin on the Pi, so it's a bit tricky to connect other sensors or add - ons. It's better to use USB - interfaced devices. This HyperPixel 4.0' fits nicely on Raspberry Pi Zero, Pi 3, Pi 2, or Model A+ / B+ (any Pi with a 2x20 connector), but not the old Pi 1 with a 2x13 connector. If you want a 3.5' display for the original Pi A or Pi B, check out the SPI - based PiTFT 3.5'. Everything comes fully assembled, no soldering needed! The display attaches to the HyperPixel PCB via a flush - mounting FPC cable. Just put HyperPixel on your Pi and run the installer. It works with any 40 - pin Pi, including Pi Zero and Pi Zero W. For larger Pis like B+, 2, or 3, use the included 40 - pin header to adjust the height. For Zero or Zero W, just place it on the GPI.
