Non-Invasive Current Sensor - 30A

This non-invasive current sensor, also called a split core current transformer, can be easily clamped around an electrical load's supply line. It works as an inductor, reacting to the magnetic field around a current-carrying conductor. By reading the coil's current output, you can figure out the current passing through the conductor. This sensor can measure loads up to 30 Amps. It's ideal for creating your own energy monitor to reduce power usage or an over-current protection device for AC loads. It doesn't have a built-in load resistor, so you'll usually need to add a resistor across the output to turn the coil's induced current into a small measurable voltage. Using this current sensor is easy. First, clamp it around the supply line of the electrical load you want to measure.
