Product Details

Meet these super - cute Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Mini NeoPixel RGB LEDs! Craft your own smart LED setup using the same integrated LED found in our NeoPixel strips and pixels. We've also used this LED in our Metro M4 Express and Neo TrinKey. These MINI (3.5mm x 3.5mm) RGB LEDs are a breeze to solder and are half the size of the common 5x5mm NeoPixels. They're the perfect choice for fitting multiple bright LEDs into your design. With the driver chip inside the LED and a constant current drive, the color remains consistent even when the voltage changes, and there's no need for external choke resistors. This pack contains 100 NeoPixel Mini RGB LEDs with a sleek black casing. If you don't need that many, we also offer 10 - pack minis in black and white casings. They come in a cut tape strip and can be used in a feeder with a taped - on leader. These LEDs are chainable. Just connect the output of one chip to the input of another. Check the datasheet for diagrams and pinouts. There's a single data line with a timing - specific protocol, so you'll need a real - time microcontroller like an AVR, Arduino, PIC, or mbed. It won't work with Linux - based microcomputers or interpreted microcontrollers. The LEDs have a WS2811 inside, set at 800KHz 'high speed'. Our well - written NeoPixel library for Arduino supports these pixels! It's for AVR cores, but others might have ported the driver code, so do a Google search. You'll need an 8MHz or faster processor. We have a ready - to - use component for this in the Adafruit EAGLE library.

Using these Mini NeoPixel RGB LEDs is a fun and easy process. First, if you want to use them in a feeder, tape a leader onto the cut tape strip they come in. To connect multiple LEDs, simply link the output of one chip to the input of another - refer to the datasheet for the exact diagrams and pinouts. When it comes to powering these LEDs, remember you need a real - time microcontroller such as an AVR, Arduino, PIC, or mbed. Avoid using Linux - based microcomputers or interpreted microcontrollers like the Netduino or Basic Stamp as they won't work. Also, make sure your processor runs at 8MHz or faster. For programming, our NeoPixel library for Arduino supports these pixels. If you're using an AVR core, you're in luck as our library is specifically for it. If you have a different setup, try searching on Google to see if someone has ported the driver code. As for maintenance, these LEDs are quite durable. Since they have a constant current drive, the color remains consistent even if the voltage varies a bit. Just store them in a dry place when not in use, and be careful when soldering as they are small components.
