Product Details

Be the star at the party with the NeoPixel Jewel! These jewels feature 4 - color LEDs (red, green, blue, and white) for amazing lighting effects. This is the Cool White RGBW version, and we also offer Natural White, Warm White, and regular RGB options. The NeoPixel is split: one half is the familiar RGB, and the other is a white LED with a yellow - phosphor. When lit, it's incredibly bright! Each of the seven tiny 5050 (5mm x 5mm) smart RGBW LEDs is placed on a beautiful round PCB with mounting holes and a chainable design. You can control multiple jewels with just one microcontroller pin. Each LED is addressable, has a ~18mA constant current drive for consistent color, and no external choke resistors are needed. Power it with 5VDC (4 - 7V works). NeoPixel LEDs use an 800 KHz protocol, and specific timing is required. The PWM rate is ~400 Hz, while DotStars have a 20 KHz rate for smoother blending. We recommend DotStars if possible. Connect the output of one Jewel to the input of another to chain them. It needs a real - time microcontroller like an AVR, Arduino, etc. Our Arduino Neopixel library supports these pixels. It comes as a single round board with 7 individually addressable RGBW LEDs, assembled and tested. Our detailed NeoPixel Uberguide has all the info you need, including ready - to - go library and example code for various Arduino models.

Using the NeoPixel Jewel is easy. First, power it with 5VDC (4 - 7V also works). You can connect multiple jewels by linking the output of one to the input of another. Control them with a single microcontroller pin, but remember it needs a real - time microcontroller like an AVR or Arduino. When programming, you can use our Arduino Neopixel library. Be aware that the NeoPixel LEDs use an 800 KHz protocol, so specific timing is crucial. Also, an 8MHz or faster processor is required. For maintenance, keep it away from extreme temperatures and moisture. If you want smoother blending of colors, consider using DotStars instead as they have a higher PWM rate. Have fun adding colorful and white dots to your projects!
