Product Details

Mote is an incredibly stylish way to illuminate your home or even your ship! It's perfect for under - shelf or under - cabinet lighting, and can also guide the way to emergency exits on your super - yacht. Mote comes with a USB controller having four channels. You can connect it to your computer using a USB A to micro B cable. It can power up to four APA102 RGB LED strips, each with 16 pixels (64 pixels per USB controller, though the firmware can handle 128 pixels per channel). The USB controller can draw power directly from your computer. But there's a power boost port where you can connect a 2+A power supply to make the pixels blindingly bright. You can run multiple USB controllers on the same computer, and the only real limit is having enough power. Mote is designed to work smoothly with any computer - Linux (including Raspberry Pi 3, 2 or B+), Mac, or Windows. If you need a more compact option for the Pi Zero, there's Mote pHAT that lets you control Mote sticks via your Pi's GPIO. Key features include 16 - pixel APA102 RGB LED strips (18cm long, 4 strips in the Complete Kit), a USB controller with four micro USB channels, a USB A to micro B cable for computer connection (included in the Complete Kit), a micro USB power boost port for extra brightness, custom - designed cables (4x 1m Mote cables in the Complete Kit), great for mood lighting and under - shelf or cabinet lighting, compatibility with Raspberry Pi 3, 2, B+, A+, Zero, Mac, and Windows, and a Python library. Our Mote Python library has examples for rainbow animations and connecting to the Cheerlights API. There's a tutorial for iPhone and Siri control, and an Android app for Android phones. Check out our getting - started guide. Note that our software doesn't support Raspbian Wheezy. The distance between mounting hole centres is 167mm, and we suggest a 4g x 1/2' (2.9 x 13mm) round - head screw for mounting.

Using Mote is easy! First, connect the USB controller to your computer with the provided USB A to micro B cable. Then, attach the APA102 RGB LED strips to the controller. If you want brighter lights, plug a 2+A power supply into the power boost port. For a more compact setup with a Pi Zero, use the Mote pHAT to control the sticks through the Pi's GPIO. When it comes to software, our Python library has examples to get you started, like creating rainbow animations or connecting to the Cheerlights API. You can also follow the tutorial to control Mote with your iPhone and Siri, or use the Android app on your Android phone. Just remember, our software doesn't work with Raspbian Wheezy. For mounting, use a 4g x 1/2' (2.9 x 13mm) round - head screw as the distance between the mounting hole centres is 167mm. To maintain Mote, keep it clean and away from moisture. Don't overload the power supply and handle the LED strips gently to avoid damage.
