Once upon a time, we turned a Pi into a WiFi gateway that blocked ads. But the Pi Hole project does an even better job! This awesome kit enables your Pi Zero W to function as a DNS (Domain Name Server). That's the device that tells you that 'adafruit.com' corresponds to the IP address 104.20.38.240. When the Pi Hole DNS is installed, it has a special trick. When asked for the IP address of 'ads.adserver.com' (for example), it returns nothing. So, you'll never connect to the ad server and get those annoying ads. You'll enjoy a faster connection, use less data, and be free from intrusive ads. It works great on computers, tablets, phones, and more. Even if you can't run an ad - blocker plugin on your phone or tablet, this kit will work, and most ad - blocker detectors won't know you're using it. Unlike our WiFi gateway demo, you don't need to set up the Pi as your access point. You'll only use it as a DNS ad blocker, so it won't slow you down. We've upgraded our Pi Zero Pi Hole with a small color display. It makes setting up clients a breeze and gives you some cool stats! If you want a kit with a large color display for tons of stats and amazing ad - blocking, check out our guide and kit for using Pi - Hole with the Raspberry Pi 3 and PiTFT 2.8' color screen. Follow our learn guide to build your own Pi Zero ad blocker. This pack includes: a Raspberry Pi Zero WH with built - in WiFi and pre - soldered headers; an Adafruit Mini PiTFT with a full - color 240x135 pixel IPS display that's visible from all angles and uses the fast SPI port; an Adafruit Pi Zero Enclosure to keep your Pi Zero safe; and a 16GB card with NOOBS 3.1 for Raspberry Pi Computers, the quickest way to have multiple operating systems on your Pi. All you need is a USB power supply and a USB cable (not included as you probably have extras) to power the Pi Zero WH + PiTFT. You can place it anywhere in your home or office with WiFi.

Using this kit is easy. First, gather a USB power supply and a USB cable (you likely have these already). Connect them to power the Pi Zero WH and the PiTFT. Place the kit anywhere in your home or office where there's WiFi. The Raspberry Pi Zero WH in the kit comes with pre - soldered headers, so no soldering is required. The Adafruit Mini PiTFT's color display makes it simple to set up clients. Just follow our learn guide to DIY your own Pi Zero ad blocker. As for the 16GB card with NOOBS 3.1, it allows you to quickly have a variety of operating systems on your Pi. Remember, since you're only using the Pi as a DNS ad blocker and not as an access point, it won't cause any bottlenecks. Keep the Pi Zero in the Adafruit Pi Zero Enclosure to protect it from damage. There's no need to worry about the TFT dimming over time like an OLED display. And even if you can't run an ad - blocker plugin on your devices, this kit will still work great. Just enjoy a faster, ad - free connection on your computers, tablets, and phones.
