Product Details

Elevate your outdoor sensor project with this SHT-10 based temperature and humidity sensor. It features a dual - use sensor module from Sensiron encased in a sintered metal mesh. The weatherproof casing prevents water from seeping in and damaging the sensor while allowing air to pass through for accurate humidity measurement. Although it can be submerged, avoid long - term submersion (over 1 hour at a time) as it will only give temperature readings. In such cases, our metal - cased temperature sensors are a better choice. This sensor is perfect for exterior weather sensing when simply placed outside. It offers 4.5% precision for humidity readings and 0.5% for temperature. A microcontroller is needed for interfacing. The sensor isn't washed after reflow and is rehydrated as per datasheet requirements. It's basically a Sensiron SHT - 10 with 4 data/power wires exposed, so any SHT - 1X microcontroller code will work. It supports 3 or 5V logic. The 1 - meter cable has four wires: Red for VCC (3 - 5VDC), Black or Green for Ground, Yellow for Clock, and Blue for Data. There's a useful Sensiron library with examples for Arduino and an SHT1X sensor object for Propeller. Remember to connect a 10K resistor from the blue Data line to VCC.

Using this temperature and humidity sensor is easy. First, place it outside where you want to measure the weather. Make sure to connect it to a microcontroller. You'll need to connect the four wires of the 1 - meter cable correctly: the red wire to VCC (3 - 5VDC), black or green to ground, yellow to the clock, and blue to the data. If you're using an Arduino, you can use the Sensiron library with examples. For a Propeller, use the SHT1X sensor object. And don't forget to connect a 10K resistor from the blue data line to VCC. When it comes to precautions, avoid submerging the sensor in water for more than an hour at a time. If you need long - term submersion, it's better to choose our metal - cased temperature sensors. Also, follow the datasheet requirements for rehydrating the sensor after reflow. As for maintenance, there's no need to wash the sensor after reflow. Just keep it in a suitable outdoor environment and check the connections regularly to ensure accurate readings.
