Product Details

This 2x8 (16 pin - 0.1' spaced) IDC breadboard helper is a great match for any 16-pin IDC cables. It consists of two parts: a 'pin-through' socket and a male header. The socket fits over the center of a breadboard or Perma-Proto, and then the header plugs into the top of the socket. IDC cables are standard but tricky to use with breadboards, so this is an affordable and effective solution for prototyping. It works best when soldered in place. We've used it on a solderless breadboard, but some customers say their breadboards don't work well with the shorter pins. Each order includes one socket and one header. Breadboard, Perma Proto, and IDC cable are not included! We also have helpers available for 2x20 pins, 2x16 pins, 2x13 pins, 2x5 pins, and 2x3 pins.

Using this IDC breakout helper is easy. First, place the 'pin - through' socket over the center of your breadboard or Perma - Proto. Then, plug the male header into the top of the socket. You can use it with any 16 - pin IDC cables for prototyping. For the best performance, solder the helper in place. However, be aware that some breadboards might not work well with the shorter pins. If you encounter issues, you may need to try a different breadboard. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean and dry. Avoid bending the pins as it may affect its functionality. Each order comes with one socket and one header, but you'll need to get your own breadboard, Perma Proto, and IDC cable.
