An IC socket, short for Integrated Circuit socket, makes it a breeze to insert and remove chips from an assembled kit or project. We offer a wide selection of pins and different widths, allowing you to find the perfect fit for a variety of chips. Just pick your desired size from the pull - down menu on the right! These sockets are ideal for soldering into a Perma Proto or PCB. This way, you can effortlessly replace and swap chips. The great thing about IC sockets is that they have the same pin spacing and size, so there's no need to redesign the board. As shown in our example photo, we placed the socket on an Adafruit Perma - Proto Breadboard, but any solderable PCB or protoboard will work well. However, they're not suitable for solderless breadboards because the pins aren't long enough.

Using these IC sockets is easy. First, pick the right size for your chip from the pull - down menu. Then, solder the socket onto a Perma Proto or a PCB. After that, you can insert or remove chips as you like. When using, make sure to use a proper soldering iron to ensure a good connection. Also, be careful when inserting and removing chips to avoid bending the pins. As for maintenance, keep the sockets in a dry and clean place. If the pins get dirty, you can gently clean them with a soft brush. Remember, these sockets are not for solderless breadboards as the pins are too short.
