Product Details

Hey there! You've signed up for Adafruit.io and are eager to create something awesome and Internet-connected. This amazing starter kit is all you need. It comes with a bunch of parts that work perfectly with our service and are the most commonly used sensors and actuators. You can sense light, motion, humidity, temperature, and more, and then store the data on adafruit.io! You can also light up LEDs, make some noise, and move a motor when a trigger is detected. This pack is made for those who own an Arduino UNO and are familiar with the platform to explore the Internet of Things. Note that this pack DOES NOT include an Arduino UNO or Adafruit Metro. We only recommend using it with an UNO or Metro. You might also need a full-size breadboard and some prototyping wires for your project. A bit of soldering is required to assemble the HDC1008 sensor. Here's what's in the pack: CC3000 breakout board with ceramic antenna - a great WiFi add-on for Arduino; Fast Vibration Sensor Switch (easy to trigger) - for detecting motion; Adafruit HDC1008 Temperature & Humidity Sensor Breakout Board; PIR (motion) sensor - to detect human movement; Magnetic contact switch door sensor - to sense when a door opens or closes; Micro servo - for basic motorized motion; Huzzah Starter Pack Component Bag which includes 1x Breadboard-friendly SPDT Slide Switch, 1x Diffused RGB (tri-color) LED, 1x Piezo Buzzer, 1x Photo cell light sensor, 3x 12mm Tactile Switches, 1x Diffused 10mm Red LED, 1x Diffused 10mm Green LED, 1x 10K Trim Potentiometer, 5x 10K 5% 1/4W resistors, and 5x 560 ohm 5% 1/4W resistors.

Using this starter kit is a breeze. First, make sure you have an Arduino UNO or Adafruit Metro as the pack doesn't include them. You'll also need a full-size breadboard and prototyping wires. Connect the CC3000 breakout board to your Arduino to enable WiFi. The different sensors like the vibration sensor, PIR sensor, and magnetic contact switch can be placed where you want to detect specific events. For example, put the PIR sensor in an area to detect human movement. The HDC1008 sensor needs a bit of soldering during assembly, so be careful if you're not experienced with it. When it comes to the components in the bag, you can use them for various customizations. The RGB LED can add some color to your project, and the piezo buzzer can make sounds. As for maintenance, keep the sensors and components away from moisture and extreme temperatures. If you're not using the kit for a while, store it in a dry and cool place. If you run into any issues, refer to the Adafruit.io documentation or reach out to their support team.
