Product Details

This amazing soil moisture sensor uses capacitive sensing to measure soil moisture levels, a better alternative to resistive sensing used by other moisture sensors. It's crafted from corrosion-resistant material, ensuring a long service life. Just insert it into the soil and share real - time soil moisture data with your friends! It comes with an on - board voltage regulator, allowing it to operate within a 3.3 - 5.5V voltage range. It's compatible with low - voltage MCUs (both 3.3V and 5V logic). To use it with a Raspberry Pi, you'll need an ADC converter. This sensor fits our 3 - pin 'Gravity' interface, so you can directly connect it to the Gravity I/O Expansion Shield. See an example project where a device alerts you when your plant needs watering. Features include support for the Gravity 3 - Pin Interface and analog output. Applications range from gardening and farming to moisture detection and intelligent agriculture. Specifications are: operating voltage 3.3 - 5.5 VDC, output voltage 0 - 3.0VDC, PH2.0 - 3P interface, dimensions 98mm * 23mm (3.86in x 0.905in), and weight 15g. There's also a product wiki for more information. The shipping list includes one capacitive soil moisture sensor and one analog sensor cable.

Using this soil moisture sensor is easy. First, insert the sensor into the soil where you want to measure the moisture. Make sure it's deep enough to get an accurate reading. The sensor will start collecting data right away and you can view the real - time soil moisture information. When connecting it, if you're using a Gravity I/O Expansion Shield, you can directly plug it in because it supports the Gravity 3 - Pin Interface. But if you want to use it with a Raspberry Pi, don't forget to attach an ADC converter. As for the power supply, the sensor works well with a voltage between 3.3V and 5.5V. Keep in mind that it's designed to be corrosion - resistant, but try to avoid exposing it to extremely harsh chemical environments for a long time. To maintain it, simply clean it gently with a soft cloth after use. If you have any questions, refer to the product wiki for more detailed guidance.
