Product Details

USB Type-C is rapidly gaining popularity in the maker community. Let's face it, no one enjoys fumbling three times to plug a USB into a port. This FTDI cable serves as a USB Type-C to serial converter, offering an easy way to connect TTL interface devices to a USB. Each 26AWG cable is one meter long, and the USB Type-C end is protected by a 2 - inch enclosure. The FTDI cable is built around an RS232 housed in a USB Type - C connector. The other end of the cable terminates with a 0.1 - inch pitch, 6 - pin connector with the following pinout: RTS (Green), RX (Yellow), TX (Orange), VCC 3.3V (Red), CTS (Brown), GND (Black). This cable can handle high voltages up to a maximum of 300V. When comparing the FTDI Cable with the FTDI Basic, the FTDI Basic has great LED indicators but needs a Mini - B cable. The FTDI Cable is well - protected from the elements, though it's large and not as easy to embed in a project. The FTDI Basic uses DTR for a hardware reset, while the FTDI cable uses the RTS signal.

Using this FTDI to USB Type - C cable is simple. First, connect the USB Type - C end of the cable to your device with a USB Type - C port. Then, connect the 6 - pin connector on the other end to your TTL interface device according to the pinout: RTS (Green), RX (Yellow), TX (Orange), VCC 3.3V (Red), CTS (Brown), GND (Black). Make sure to check the voltage of your device as this cable can handle up to 300V max. When handling the cable, be gentle as the wires are relatively thin. Avoid pulling or bending the cable sharply, especially near the connectors. The USB Type - C end has a 2 - inch enclosure for protection, but still take care not to damage it. For maintenance, keep the cable clean and dry. If it gets dirty, you can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe it. Store the cable in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remember, while the FTDI cable is well - protected from the elements, it's large and may not be suitable for embedding in some projects, so choose its usage accordingly.
