Product Details

Add the power of the Internet to your next project with this cute, compact WiFi microcontroller at an affordable price! This module features an ESP8285, which is essentially an ESP8266 processor with 1MB of built-in FLASH memory. You can use it just like an ESP8266 as it's the same processor with WiFi capabilities. The ESP8266 from Espressif is an 80 MHz microcontroller with a full WiFi front - end (works as both client and access point) and a TCP/IP stack with DNS support. Since the ESP8285 has the FLASH memory inside the chip, the modules are smaller and a bit cheaper. The only downside is it doesn't have the full 4MB like our ESP8266 SMT module. These modules are super easy to hand - solder thanks to their large pads. They come with 1 MB internal flash, an ESP8266 processor, and an onboard antenna. Pre - programmed with the NodeMCU Lua firmware, you're good to go. You'll need some extra parts to get it up and running, so check out the HUZZAH schematic for our recommended components. Note: This product is just the module and can be tricky to use, so it's for advanced users only. Click here if you're looking for the Huzzah ESP8266 Breakout!

Using this ESP8285 SMT module is a great way to add Internet connectivity to your projects. First, if you're new to soldering, take your time when hand - soldering the module as the pads are large and easy to work with. Once soldered, since it comes pre - programmed with the NodeMCU Lua firmware, you can start testing it out. But remember, you'll need some extra components. Check out the HUZZAH schematic to see what parts you'll need to get the module up and running. As for maintenance, keep it in a dry and clean environment. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity as this could damage the internal components. Also, be careful when handling it to prevent static electricity from harming the sensitive electronics. Since this product is mainly for advanced users, if you find it too difficult to use, you might want to consider the Huzzah ESP8266 Breakout instead.
