Tired of boring, low - tech tree ornaments? This holiday season, add some coding charm to your decorations! This DIY Ornament Kit, with a 6 - cm diameter, is a perfect fit for a Circuit Playground Express and a 500mAh LiPoly battery. You can customize it with materials from your local hobby shop, like fluff puff balls, to beautifully diffuse the onboard LEDs. You can clearly see the rainbow NeoPixels, and the sound, light, and temperature sensors work great. For capacitive touch, just use conductive tape on the inner surface to make a touch pad. The microphone and speaker, though a bit quieter inside the ball, are still usable. Since it's hard to press the buttons, use the accelerometer to make the ball do things when shaken. Note: The kit doesn't include the Circuit Playground Express, 500mAh battery, or Lipoly charger, so be sure to get those too. Check out two inspiring projects, one with CircuitPython and one with MicroBlocks.

Using this DIY Ornament Kit is easy. First, get your Circuit Playground Express and 500mAh LiPoly battery as they're not included in the kit. Then, place the Circuit Playground Express and battery inside the 6 - cm diameter ornament. You can use materials from your local hobby shop, such as fluff puff balls, to decorate the ornament and diffuse the LEDs. To create a capacitive touch function, attach conductive tape to the inner surface. The microphone and speaker work well, but they're a bit quieter due to the ball's enclosure. Since it's difficult to press the buttons, you can shake the ball to trigger the accelerometer and make it perform actions. When it comes to maintenance, keep the kit in a dry place. Avoid dropping or hitting it hard to prevent damage to the internal components. If you want to change the code, refer to the CircuitPython or MicroBlocks projects provided as inspiration.
