Product Details

These diffused 5mm tri - color LEDs have separate red, green, and blue LED chips inside. They're great as indicators and super fun for creating color - swirling effects. With a 60 - degree viewing angle, they blend colors internally instead of looking like three distinct LEDs. They are of the Common - Anode type. You connect one pin to around 5V and then connect the other three legs to the ground through a resistor. We often choose and use Common - Anode (CA) over Common - Cathode (CC) because many multi - LED driver chips, like the TLC5940/TLC5941, are designed specifically for CA. Features include a pack of 25 LEDs, a 5mm diameter. The red has a 630 nm wavelength, green 525 nm, and blue 460 nm. Forward voltages are 1.9 - 2.3V for red, 3.0 - 3.4V for green and blue at 20mA current. Typical brightness is 3000 mcd for red, 5000 mcd for green, and 900 mcd for blue. Check the FD - 5WSRGB - A Datasheet for more details. If you're new to using LEDs, read our 'Introduction to using LEDs' tutorial for electronics projects.

Using these diffused 5mm RGB LEDs is easy. First, since they are Common - Anode type, connect one pin to about 5V. Then, use resistors to connect the other three legs to the ground. This setup allows you to control the different colors. When working with them, make sure the voltage and current match the values in the product details to avoid damaging the LEDs. As for maintenance, keep them in a dry and cool place. If you want to use them in an electronics project and need help, check out our 'Introduction to using LEDs' tutorial. It will guide you through the process and help you get the most out of these LEDs.
