Product Details

Enhance your Circuit Playground projects with this awesome bolt-on TFT Gizmo. It lets you easily add a beautiful color display in a robust and dependable way. The PCB resembles a solderless breadboard but has fixed M3 standoffs for both mechanical and electrical connections. Once attached, you'll get a 1.54' 240x240 IPS display with backlight control. There are also two 3-pin STEMMA connectors for attaching NeoPixel strips or servos, and a Class D audio amplifier with a Molex PicoBlade connector to plug in a small speaker. This is an excellent companion for Circuit Playground Express or Bluefruit boards due to their fast SPI hardware speeds, and it works with Arduino and CircuitPython. You can use it with the Circuit Playground Classic, but it won't be very fast as you have to bitbang the SPI, so it's not recommended. It comes with a PCB having pre-soldered standoffs and 12x M3 screws for attachment. It fits all Circuit Playgrounds, but Express and Bluefruit are the top choices.

Using this Circuit Playground TFT Gizmo is easy. First, attach the PCB to your Circuit Playground board using the provided 12 M3 screws. The M3 standoffs on the PCB will help with both mechanical and electrical connections. For the display, you can control the backlight according to your needs. If you want to add some lights or control a servo, use the two 3 - pin STEMMA connectors. To play audio, connect a small speaker to the Class D audio amplifier via the Molex PicoBlade connector. When using it with Arduino or CircuitPython, it works great with Circuit Playground Express or Bluefruit boards for fast performance. However, if you use it with the Circuit Playground Classic, be aware that it will be slow. As for maintenance, keep the PCB clean and dry. Avoid touching the display screen with dirty hands to prevent scratches or smudges. Also, store it in a cool and dry place when not in use.
