Product Details

The CAN-BUS Shield equips your Arduino or Redboard with CAN-BUS capabilities, enabling you to hack your vehicle. You can poll the ECU to get key information like coolant temperature, throttle position, vehicle speed, and engine rpms. Store this data or display it on a screen for in-dash projects. It uses the Microchip MCP2515 CAN controller with the MCP2551 CAN transceiver. The CAN connection is through a standard 9-way sub-D for use with OBD-II cable, making it perfect for automotive CAN applications. This shield also features a uSD card holder, serial LCD connector, and a connector for an EM506 GPS module, ideal for data logging. Note that a DB9 Cable is not included. Check the 'Recommended Products' section for a suitable cable. A portion of each sale goes to SK Pang Electronics for product support and development. Key features include CAN v2.0B up to 1 Mb/s, high-speed SPI Interface (10 MHz), standard and extended data and remote frames, and more.

Using the CAN - BUS Shield is quite straightforward. First, connect it to your Arduino or Redboard. Then, use an OBD - II cable to establish the CAN connection through the standard 9 - way sub - D connector. To get data from your vehicle, poll the ECU using the shield. You can store the data on the uSD card or show it on a serial LCD. Remember, the DB9 cable is not included, so pick one from the recommended products. For power, the shield can supply your Arduino via the sub - D with resettable fuse and reverse polarity protection. When it comes to maintenance, keep it in a dry place. If you're using the GPS module or other components, make sure they're properly connected. Also, don't forget to check the GitHub resources for library and example code updates to enhance your experience with this shield.
