Product Details

Power over Ethernet (PoE) simplifies your project wiring. Instead of using separate wires for power and data, you can use a single Ethernet cable for both. All you need is this convenient PoE module and access to the center - taps on your Ethernet - capable board. Attach the four input wires, and you'll get a regulated 5V 1.8A output. It's truly amazing! This PoE module version features a transformer in the middle, which means there's no direct electrical connection between the 5V power/ground and Ethernet cables. It works great with the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, which has 4 wires on a header. As shown in our photos, you only need some female - female jumper wires to connect the Ethernet wires to the module, and then two wires to bring the 5V back to the header. Although a 2.5A power supply is recommended for a Pi 3B+, it's only necessary if you attach many accessories like a 7 - inch display. 1.8A can cover a wide range of uses as the maximum current draw without extras is around 0.7A. If you don't have access to those pins but can power your board or computer with a micro USB cable, check out our 5V microUSB PoE Splitter. It's larger and more expensive but very easy to use, perfect for older Raspberry Pi models (not the 3 B+), Feathers, etc. We also have a non - isolated version of this module when electrical separation isn't needed.

Using this 5V 1.8A Isolated Output PoE Module is easy. First, make sure you have access to the center - taps on your Ethernet - capable board. Attach the four input wires to the module. Then, if you're using it with a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, use female - female jumper wires to connect the Ethernet wires to the module, and two wires to bring the 5V back to the header. Remember, while a 2.5A power supply is recommended for a Pi 3B+, 1.8A is enough for most common uses without many accessories. If you don't have access to the required pins, our 5V microUSB PoE Splitter is a great alternative. For maintenance, keep the module in a dry and clean place. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you don't need electrical separation, you can choose our non - isolated version of this module.
